The standard first day on the plateau: masks, water and the long views, in the order the light allows.

    1.5 hours

    Chhau mask workshops. Makers are rights-holders — ask before photographing, and buy from them directly.

  2. 10:30
    Upper and Lower Dam area
    1 hour

    Road-level viewpoints. Stay clear of dam infrastructure.

  3. 12:30
    Turga Falls
    1 hour

    Seasonal. Check flow and access on the day; skip in low water rather than scrambling.

  4. 15:00
    Bamni Falls
    1.5–2 hours

    A long stepped descent and a harder climb back. Not for everyone in the group — decide honestly at the top.

Why this order works

Charida works in the morning when the workshops are open, and the falls are best attempted with enough daylight left for the climb out.

Meal, fuel and toilet anchors

  • Fuel: fill before climbing to the plateau.

Avoid if

  • Bamni if anyone has knee trouble — the steps are the whole experience.
  • The falls in and immediately after heavy rain.
  • Attempting this and Murguma on the same day.
