A local drive
A Sunday morning between Susunia and Gangdua
শুশুনিয়া থেকে গংডুয়া — এক রবিবারের সকাল
Not a circuit, not an itinerary. What people who live here actually do with a free morning.
Leave before seven. That is the whole trick, and it is the part visitors most often skip. The hour between first light and eight belongs to the people who live here: cattle on the road, the spring at Susunia quiet, the stone carvers setting out.
Spend the time at the base rather than on the climb. The spring, the trees, the sound of the chisels: there is more to notice sitting still for forty minutes than there is in reaching the top and coming straight down.
Come back the long way past Gangdua. In winter there are birds on the water and almost nobody there before nine. It is not a spectacular place. It is a good one, which is a different and more durable thing.
Breakfast afterwards, not before. Anything you eat at six will have worn off by the time the light is good.
